Description of the Disease

A kidney tumor is a new growth that arises from the cells of the kidney tissue. It can be malignant (cancer) or benign. A tumor can arise in one or both kidneys at the same time.

Classification

Kidney tumors are classified as kidney cancer and benign tumors. Kidney cancer is subdivided into several types depending on the cellular structure.

Symptoms

Symptoms of a kidney tumor may include pain in the lower back, blood in the urine, fatigue, loss of appetite and weight, high blood pressure, and swelling.

Causes

The causes of kidney tumors may be genetic factors, smoking, obesity, arterial hypertension, exposure to certain chemicals.

Diagnosis

To diagnose a kidney tumor, ultrasound examination, CT, MRI, blood and urine tests are performed.
