Hofitol is a herbal medicinal product developed by the French pharmaceutical laboratory Rosa Phytopharma. It is formulated to protect liver cells, normalize bile flow, and improve metabolic processes. The medicine is intended for adults and children over six years old.

Key Ingredients

The active substance in Hofitol is a dry aqueous extract from the leaves of the Cynara scolymus (field artichoke). Each film-coated tablet contains 200 mg of this extract.

Indications for Use

• Biliary Tract Disorders: Biliary dyskinesia (hypokinetic type), chronic non-calculous cholecystitis (inflammation of the gallbladder without stones).

• Kidney Conditions: Chronic nephritis, mild to moderate chronic renal failure.

• Digestive Issues: Dyspeptic disorders such as nausea, heartburn, flatulence, feeling of heaviness in the abdomen, and constipation caused by insufficient bile flow.

• Intoxication: Chronic poisoning with hepatotoxic substances, alcohol, or nitrates.

• Metabolic Disorders: Atherosclerosis, obesity, and acetonemia.

• Pregnancy: Prevention and treatment of early and late toxicosis (gestosis) during pregnancy (under medical supervision).

Dosage & Administration

Hofitol tablets should be taken orally, preferably on an empty stomach (20 minutes before meals).

• Adults and children over 12 years: 1 to 2 tablets, 3 times daily.

• Children aged 6 to 12 years: 1 tablet, 3 times daily.

Duration of treatment: The standard course of treatment is 2 to 3 weeks. Your doctor may recommend extending the course based on individual needs.

Contraindications

Do not use Hofitol tablets if you have:

• Hypersensitivity (allergy) to artichokes, other plants from the Asteraceae family, or any other component of the formula.

• Obstruction (blockage) of the bile ducts.

• Gallstones (cholelithiasis).

• Acute liver or kidney diseases.

• Severe renal failure or severe liver dysfunction.

• Children under 6 years of age.

Side Effects

Hofitol is generally well-tolerated due to its natural composition. However, in rare cases, long-term use or high doses may lead to:

• Mild diarrhea (due to the choleretic effect).

• Allergic skin reactions (rash, urticaria, angioedema).
